Het is altijd een pijnlijke plek voor gamers om je oude hardware rond te houden om je favoriete games te spelen. PS4-gebruikers hoeven dit niet te doen. Ze kunnen genieten van een aantal klassieke titels van de PS2 en PS3 via Sony's eigen geïmproviseerde PS4 Backwards Compatibility-functies.

De PS4 heeft helemaal geen expliciet compatibel compatibiliteitsprogramma. Tenminste, niet in dezelfde zin als we gewend zijn aan het zien van andere consoles zoals de Xbox One en Wii U. PlayStation Now is een streamingservice waarmee je toegang tot games kunt kopen zonder dat je het spel zelf hoeft aan te schaffen. De servers van Sony en uw snelle internetverbinding zorgen voor al het zware werk. Er zijn geen schijven betrokken. Je hoeft niet eens van de bank af te stappen om je favoriete oudere games in de winkel te kopen. Je PS4 wordt een streamingbox die materiaal van PlayStation Network naar je televisie doorgeeft.

PlayStation Now kost geld. Daarom is het niet zo bekend als Microsoft's Back-up compatibiliteitsprogramma met Xbox. Het is helemaal niet inbegrepen bij een PlayStation Plus-abonnement. De service biedt uur-, dag- en maandhuur per game. Om het maximale uit het spel te halen, moeten gamers de $ 20 maandelijkse betalingsoptie proberen die hen toegang geeft tot veel games.

PS4 Backwards Compatibility: PS2 Emulator voor PS4

Een PS2-emulator geïntroduceerd nadat PS4 is gelanceerd, biedt gamers een manier om een ​​aantal klassieke games op hun console te spelen. Omdat er een emulator bij betrokken is, is er geen behoefte aan een constante internetverbinding zoals bij PlayStation Now. Wat nog belangrijker is, je hoeft niet te blijven betalen voor toegang tot deze PS2-games. Als je ze eenmaal hebt gekocht, zijn ze van jou om te behouden en zo lang te spelen als je wilt.
